SAN JOSE — Police have announced the arrest of a man in connection with a sexual assault reported in a Westfield Valley Fair mall parking lot in March, and investigators suspect he might be a serial offender after linking him to additional attacks.
A woman told police that around 9:40 p.m. on March 19, she was walking to her car when a man approached from behind and grabbed her over her clothing, according to San Jose police. She fought him off and eventually fell to the ground, police said; her assailant ran away.
The victim was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released. An ensuing investigation identified 19-year-old Cupertino resident Joseph Adorno as a suspect, and determined that he was a suspect in “two similar sexual batteries that occurred in the city of San Jose,” police said.

Police arrested Adorno May 26 in San Jose, and booked him on suspicion of crimes including sexual battery and false imprisonment. The police department added that “due to the nature of the crime, detectives believe there may be additional survivors.”
