BERKELEY — The boyfriend of a woman found dead earlier this week inside her Berkeley apartment has been charged with murder, prosecutors said.

Damarcus David Jones, 28, of Berkeley, is also facing a probation violation based on the murder charge, according to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.
The 37-year-old victim was found dead inside her apartment in the 1900 block of California Street around noon Saturday. The Berkeley Police Department said she appeared to have died after a physical assault. Authorities have not released her name.
Jones was identified as a suspect in the killing and arrested Tuesday in Dixon, California.

Police said the suspect and victim were in a relationship. However, they have not said how long the pair had been dating or why they believe she was killed.
Jones is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning at the Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
