BERKELEY — The boyfriend of a woman found dead Saturday inside her apartment has been arrested on suspicion of murder, police said Wednesday.

The name of the 37-year-old woman killed still has not been released by authorities.
The 28-year-old suspect, Damarcus David Jones, was arrested Tuesday in Dixon. He was being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of murder and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
The woman was found about noon Saturday in her apartment in the 1900 block of California Street after a property manager reported discovering her deceased, police said.

Police said the woman appeared to have died after a physical assault. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities said that based on evidence and information developed during the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jones, who they said is the victim’s boyfriend, on suspicion of murder. He was subsequently arrested in Dixon without incident.
Police have not yet said how long the two were in a relationship or why they believe she was killed.
