SAN FRANCISCO — A man was shot Saturday morning as he drove on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, the California Highway Patrol said.

The man drove himself to a hospital where he was treated for a leg wound, the CHP said. It was not known Sunday if he was still hospitalized.
The shooting happened about 4:06 a.m. Saturday on the bridge on Interstate 80 east of Treasure Island, the CHP said in a news release.
The man called 911 to report what had happened and that he was driving himself to a hospital, the CHP said.

The man’s age and residence have not been released.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No information has been released about a suspect or the vehicle they were in.
All eastbound lanes of the bridge were closed for about an hour during the initial investigation. An additional search for evidence was conducted just after 2 p.m. causing eastbound lanes to be closed for 30 minutes, the CHP said.
Detectives assigned to the CHP’s Golden Gate Division Major Crimes Unit (MCU) are investigating the shooting. Anyone with information that may be helpful is asked to call the CHP Investigative Tipline at 707-917-4491.
