ANTIOCH — A shooting early Monday hospitalized a 37-year-old man and resulted in the arrest of another man, police said.

The injured man was in stable condition Monday afternoon and was expected to survive after being rushed by ambulance to a trauma center.
In a statement, Antioch police said they arrested the 51-year-old suspect after determining he was in a nearby residence and calling out SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams to assist. The suspect surrendered peacefully, police said. They did not identify him or say why they believed the shooting occurred.
According to police, officers responded about 6:35 a.m. to the 1100 block of W. 9th Street after receiving reports that gunshots had been fired in front of a residence. They found the victim when they arrived and provided first aid until medics arrived, police said.
Police remained at the scene until late Monday morning and asked anyone with information to contact their dispatch center at 925-778-2441.
