Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (<\/span>Mercury News<\/span> &<\/span> East Bay Times<\/span>) boys<\/span> Athlete of the Week poll.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.<\/span><\/p>\n

This week, we consider performances from May 25-30<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vote as many times as you\u2019d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.<\/span><\/p>\n

Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.<\/span><\/p>\n

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

We also review stats submitted to<\/span> MaxPreps<\/span> by coaches\/team statisticians.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please note: This is the final Athlete of the Week poll of the 2025-26 school year. The poll will return when the fall sports season begins.<\/p>\n

Cooper Barnes, De La Salle baseball: <\/b>Barnes threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts to lead De La Salle to a 6-0 win over Granada in the NCS Division I championship game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Felix Chang, Archbishop Mitty baseball: <\/b>Chang went 3-for-3, hitting a triple and a homer in Mitty\u2019s 5-2 win over Palma in the CCS Division II title game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Case Jacobson, St. Francis track and field: <\/b>Jacobsen took first place in the shot put at the CIF state championships with a throw that went 60-11 1\/4.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Will Jahnke, Northgate baseball: <\/b>The sophomore struck out five and allowed four hits in four shutout innings in Northgate\u2019s 4-0 win over Alameda in the NCs Division II title game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kai Kung, Half Moon Bay baseball: <\/b>Kung struck out seven and allowed three hits in a 1-0 complete-game shutout against San Mateo in the CCS Division Division V final.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liev Melamed, College Prep baseball: <\/b>Melamed scored three runs for the Cougars as College Prep defeated Urban-San Francisco 8-2 to capture the NCS Division VI title.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lester Miranda, James Logan baseball: <\/b>Miranda knocked in two runs to lead Logan to a 7-2 win over Pittsburg in the NCS Division III championship game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Reid Plamondon, Menlo baseball: <\/b>Plamondon pitched six scoreless innings, striking out nine and allowing two hits to lead Menlo to a 2-0 win over Wilcox in the CCS Division III title game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nico Rodriguez, Livermore baseball: <\/b>Rodriguez went 4-for-4, drove in four runs and blasted what turned out to be the winning homer in the top of the seventh to lead Livermore to an 8-7 win over Newark Memorial in the NCS Division IV title game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brady Tse, Harker track and field: <\/b>Tse won the 300-meter hurdles at the state championship meet, crossing the finish line in 36.23.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
