An investigation is underway in Helsinki, where a 27-year-old influencer died shortly after being put under anesthesia for a cosmetic procedure, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Olivia Oras died on Sept. 3, \u201cafter an aesthetic procedure gone wrong,\u201d a family spokesperson told People. In an interview with Finnish news channel Yle MOT, the content creator\u2019s parents said that Ora lost consciousness while being put under ahead of a planned liposuction procedure at a private clinic. She was instead rushed to Helsinki University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.<\/p>\n

Oras parents have also filed a police report, but their spokesperson did not provide further details on the matter.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the Helsinki Police Department confirmed that it was investigating Oras\u2019 death as aggravated manslaughter after receiving a request to investigate three days earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe investigation is in its early stages, and there is no further information to share at this time,\u201d police said in their statement.<\/p>\n

Oras started cultivating her social media presence when she was just 14 years old, raking in thousands of followers throughout her teen years, according to People. In 2016, she was the subject of the \u201cThe Perfect Selfie,\u201d a documentary detailing her life and her relationship with social media. Following its release, Oras retreated from the public eye, and moved to Amsterdam to attend school. While she was there, she witnessed a friend\u2019s suicide, and later developed an addiction to sleeping pills, People reporter.<\/p>\n

In 2022, she sought treatment and went on to launch her nonprofit Oras Respiratus Ry \u2014 which is aimed at supporting pulmonary disease research \u2014 following her father\u2019s diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. She also worked with several tech and wellness companies.<\/p>\n
