SAN JOSE \u2013 The San Jose Sharks announced this week that during the team\u2019s preseason, fans will have a say in their in-arena experience at SAP Center.<\/p>\n

Although details were scarce, several Sharks\u2019 followers on social media were hoping that meant debuting a new goal song \u2014 and turfing the one the team used last season.<\/p>\n

The Sharks decided before the start of the 2025-26 season that they needed a new goal song after using \u201cGet Ready For This\u201d by 2 Unlimited for most of the previous nine years. Elevated season ticket holders got a choice between four new selections created by music producer BVRNOUT and picked a track called \u201cPower Bite,\u201d which first debuted during a game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Oct. 9, 2025, before a sold-out Shark Tank crowd.<\/p>\n

At the time, the Sharks said they would have full ownership of the song and were \u201cplanning to use it beyond the arena on digital platforms and through remixes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the social media reaction among some members of the Sharks\u2019 fan base to the song was not kind. And, in a review of all NHL goal songs, sportswriters at The Athletic \u2014 never to be confused with Rolling Stone magazine\u2019s music critics \u2014 gave \u201cPower Bite\u201d a four out of 10 rating.<\/p>\n

But whether \u201cPower Bite\u201d soon bites the dust is unclear.<\/p>\n

In its social media post on Tuesday, the Sharks, declaring their \u201cpreseason lab\u201d officially open, said their home arena would become a \u201ctesting ground, and (fans) get a say in what we test.\u201d The team said social media posts this week would feature different categories, allowing fans to cast their vote \u201cto help shape the future of the Sharks in arena experience, from games and music to lighting, S.J. Sharkie, fan cams and more.\u201d<\/p>\n

One example was a poll about what game should be played inside the arena during television timeouts. The selections were \u2018Minute to Win It,\u2019 \u2018Deal or No Deal\u2019 and \u2018Complete the Logo.\u2019<\/p>\n

Still, almost all replies on X, if not every one, said the Sharks needed a different goal song.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease god let this mean we can change the goal song,\u201d wrote one fan.<\/p>\n

\u201c100th reply to say change the goal song; everything else is irrelevant,\u201d wrote another.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Sharks play preseason games at home on Sept. 22 against Vegas and two days later against the Anaheim Ducks. They open the regular season on Oct. 1 at home against the Florida Panthers.<\/p>\n
