MORGAN HILL \u2013 Prosecutors are asking a judge to revoke bail for a Gilroy man accused of molesting three young girls on a YMCA camp field trip in June after he posted bail in each of the three separate cases filed against him in July, citing concerns that he poses an ongoing danger to public safety.<\/p>\n

Anthony Joseph Ramon, 25, is accused of sexually touching three 10-year-old girls while supervising a field trip to the Morgan Hill Aquatic Center on June 30 as a camp counselor, according to a news release from the Santa Clara County District Attorney\u2019s Office. In each of the three cases filed against him, Ramon was charged with one count of lewd and lascivious acts against a minor under the age of 14, according to court records.<\/p>\n

\u201cBail should always be about protecting public safety,\u201d District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a news release. \u201cThe idea that a person suspected of sexually abusing multiple children should get the same chance at freedom as a person accused of mail fraud or some other non-violent crime is wrong, and dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ramon is set to be arraigned on five felony charges of child molestation at a hearing Friday morning, prosecutors said. At the hearing, the DA\u2019s office will also petition the judge to consolidate the three separate child molestation cases into one and allow them to file an amended complaint with an additional allegation that Ramon committed offenses against multiple victims, which increases his potential sentence to multiple life terms.<\/p>\n

A defense attorney for Ramon could not be reached on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Ramon was arrested July 9 and charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a minor for the allegations made by the first victim, for which he was released on $100,000 bail, prosecutors said. He was arrested for the second set of allegations on July 16, when he was released on $200,000 bail. The third arrest, for allegations made by a third victim, took place on July 27, when Ramon was granted $50,000 bail.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors added that Ramon paid the total amount of $350,000 in bail by paying bail bond companies $24,500.<\/p>\n

In court filings, prosecutors argued that Ramon is a public safety risk, adding that there are not any less restrictive ways of ensuring that he appears in court or to prevent him from making contact with the victims. They argued that the multiple victims \u201cchanges the entire sentencing landscape of the case.\u201d<\/p>\n

The grandmother of the second victim, who identified herself as the third cousin of Ramon, wrote a letter to the court urging the revocation of Ramon\u2019s bail in which she expressed concern that he would reoffend if allowed to remain out of custody.<\/p>\n

She has big dreams and aspirations. This has now all changed for her, as she learned at a very young and innocent age, on the day that was meant for her to have fun with people she trusted, that there are real-life monsters out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

On June 30, while Ramon was supervising the YMCA of Silicon Valley summer camp field trip to the pool, he allegedly sexually touched at least three young girls, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

The first victim told investigators that she had been playing the pool with her friends when Ramon grabbed her and other girls to throw them into the pool, according to court filings. Later while in the pool, Ramon allegedly put his finger under her bathing suit in her genital area, prosecutors said, making her \u201cvery uncomfortable.\u201d He then allegedly did that a second time, asking the victim, \u201cdoes this feel nice?\u201d<\/p>\n

The victim told her mother about what happened when she went home and it was reported to police, prosecutors added.<\/p>\n

After seeing the announcement of Ramon\u2019s arrest, the mother of the second victim asked her daughter if anything had occurred at the pool, prompting the victim to tell her mother that Ramon touched her chest and \u201cprivate area,\u201d prosecutors said. She told investigators that Ramon put his hand on her genital area over her swimsuit four to five times during the field trip.<\/p>\n

The third victim told investigators that Ramon touched her genital area over her bathing suit twice that day, prosecutors added.<\/p>\n

Ramon, who began working for the YMCA in August 2024, was placed on leave after during authorities\u2019 initial investigation. The YMCA leadership cooperated with the investigation.<\/p>\n
