San Francisco is finalizing a deal to sign Darren Baker, the son of future Hall of Fame manager Dusty Baker, according to a report from NBC Sports Bay Area. He is expected to join Triple-A Sacramento.<\/p>\n

Baker joins Peyton Bonds, the nephew of Barry Bonds, and Kaeden Kent, the son of Jeff Kent, as players in the Giants\u2019 system with notable family ties.<\/p>\n

In Game 5 of the 2002 World Series, a three-year-old Baker memorably ran onto the field to retrieve Kenny Lofton\u2019s bat before being scooped up by J.T. Snow. Following the incident, Major League Baseball introduced a new protocol, colloquially called the \u201cDarren Baker Rule,\u201d stating that batboys had to be at least 14.<\/p>\n
