{"id":8145,"date":"2026-09-01T06:36:42","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T06:36:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=8145"},"modified":"2026-09-01T06:36:42","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T06:36:42","slug":"steph-curry-not-worried-about-contract-extension-negotiations-with-warriors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=8145","title":{"rendered":"Steph Curry not worried about contract extension negotiations with Warriors"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Steph Curry made his first public statements Monday since becoming eligible to sign a max contract extension.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=8143\">Arrest made in hit-and-run that left well known Richmond man dead<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>At a charity golf event at the Palo Alto Hills Golf &amp; Country Club on Monday afternoon, Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area that he has every desire to remain a Warrior.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere\u2019s no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I\u2019m pretty sure that\u2019s going to happen,\u201d Curry told the Warriors\u2019 flagship sports channel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Curry will make $62.6 million this season, and since Saturday has been eligible to sign a $136.7 million contract, which will take him to age 41 with the team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Warriors are coming off a season in which they went 37-45 and were bounced in the play-in tournament for the second time in three seasons. Curry struggled with knee soreness and participated in just 43 games. <\/span><span>However, he still played at an elite level when he was healthy enough to play. Curry scored 26.6 points per game and made 39% of his 3-pointers despite being the focal point of every defensive scheme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Curry, 38, also showed he was still capable of going on his signature scoring binges. He shattered Michael Jordan\u2019s record for most 40-point games by a player after turning 30.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe goal stays the same,\u201d Curry said. \u201cExtension stuff, we\u2019ll figure that out at the right time. But I\u2019m ready for Year 18. It\u2019s kind of crazy that it\u2019s been this long, and I\u2019m still trying to play at a very high level to help us win, and I\u2019ll be able to do my job.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When training camp begins in Hawaii in September, Curry will join a team that has brought back nearly every major contributor from last season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=8142\">Two injured in Peninsula freeway shooting<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>After adding Yaxel Lendeborg with the No. 11 pick in the draft, the Warriors signed Draymond Green, Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis and De\u2019Anthony Melton to new contracts. Golden State also added Georges Niang and Brandon Williams to veteran minimum contracts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Golden State also agreed to a two-year deal with coach Steve Kerr to keep the future Hall of Famer on their sidelines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Instead of viewing the lack of turnover as a disadvantage, Curry characterized it as a positive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe deal and the contract stuff will happen at the right time, and we\u2019re not letting it be a distraction from our preparation for the season, and the fact that the team we\u2019re coming back with has a lot of familiarity,\u201d Curry said.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The two-time MVP was speaking at the seventh annual Workday Charity Classic, which benefits the Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation, which he and his wife, Ayesha, founded in 2019.
