Temperatures that are below normal, wide-reaching low-level clouds, and coastal drizzle are expected to be the primary weather elements for the Bay Area as summer\u2019s home stretch begins this week, perhaps befitting given the relatively mild season it\u2019s been for the region.<\/p>\n

Come the Labor Day weekend holiday, it may be considerably warmer but fire danger is expected to remain low.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all going to depend on the cloud cover,\u201d National Weather Service meteorologist Nicole Sarment said Monday morning. \u201cIf they remain all week, that will keep the temperatures lower. But in general, it is looking like a warming trend as we get to the holiday, but if that happens, it will be a slow build.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the interim, temperatures are expected to peak in the low 70s for the hottest spots in the region, while in Oakland, San Mateo and other places near the water, they are not likely to get out of the 60s.<\/p>\n

Low-level stratus clouds are expected to blanket the region, as well, according to the weather service. Those clouds are likely to mix with what the weather service said will be a thick marine layer and are likely to produce overnight and morning drizzle.<\/p>\n

Also at play is a what Sarment called a \u201cmore traditional\u201d cold front that\u2019s likely to impact the far North Bay part of the region by Thursday and may cause rain to fall.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 warming trend is expected to begin for the rest of the region beginning Wednesday but it\u2019s likely to increase at a slow pace, Sarment said. Some long-range forecasts showed some far East Bay interior areas may reach 90 on Labor Day, but Sarment said it\u2019s still too soon to tell.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is still a lot of uncertainty,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

Fire danger is likely to mitigated because of the cool temperatures, according to the weather service. Winds also are expected to stay calm through the week, with gusts not expected to blow any harder than 15 mph anywhere.<\/p>\n
