{"id":7596,"date":"2026-08-24T04:17:37","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T04:17:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=7596"},"modified":"2026-08-24T04:17:37","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T04:17:37","slug":"woman-arrested-in-antioch-on-erratic-driving-charge-allegedly-damaged-two-cop-cars-in-attempt-to-flee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=7596","title":{"rendered":"Woman arrested in Antioch on erratic driving charge allegedly damaged two cop cars in attempt to flee"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>Antioch police officers arrested a 39-year-old woman on erratic driving charges Sunday afternoon after she allegedly sideswiped a vehicle and nearly struck a pedestrian, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=7595\">Review: America\u2019s first great ska band still stands as its best<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Antioch Police Department said officers were dispatched around 2:14 p.m. Sunday to reports of a white Volkswagen Tiguan being driven erratically near the 1500 block of Yellowstone Drive.<\/p>\n<p>The department said officers located the vehicle on Hillcrest Avenue near East 14th Street, and the vehicle had two flat tires and significant body damage consistent with multiple collisions.<\/p>\n<p>When an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield, initiating a low-speed pursuit, according to the authorities.<\/p>\n<p>The department said despite the relatively low speeds, the driver continued to drive erratically, including driving into oncoming traffic lanes while traveling along Hargrove Street toward East 18th Street.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=7592\">Sunnyvale launches on-demand rideshare service<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Officers deployed spike strips on East 18th Street, but the driver avoided them by turning into a nearby Rite Aid parking lot, the department said.<\/p>\n<p>Once inside the parking lot, the vehicle slowed, allowing responding officers to box it in, authorities said. The department said the driver attempted to escape by intentionally ramming a patrol vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Officers removed the driver from the vehicle and took her into custody, authorities said.
