Upon meeting at New Jersey\u2019s William Paterson University in 1987 drummer Joe Farnsworth and tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander forged a relationship that has taken them to the world\u2019s greatest clubs and concert halls.<\/p>\n

Two of the most prolific and esteemed jazz artists of their generation, they reconvene with another William Paterson compatriot, San Francisco bassist Michael Zisman, for a three-night, six-show\u00a0 running Aug. 21-23 at the swanky Tenderloin jazz club Black Cat.<\/p>\n

Zisman gave up the sideman hustle years ago but has kept a foot in the scene by accompanying vocalist Kim Nalley, a chair he\u2019s held down for decades.<\/p>\n

While Farnsworth and Alexander continue to perform and record with each other regularly, \u201cit\u2019s been 20 years since we all played together,\u201d Farnsworth said. \u201cThis is really a reunion of that William Paterson fellowship.\u201d<\/p>\n
