{"id":7075,"date":"2026-08-17T19:12:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T19:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=7075"},"modified":"2026-08-17T19:12:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T19:12:00","slug":"dutch-bros-aims-for-another-san-jose-coffee-drive-through-at-former-hollywood-video-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=7075","title":{"rendered":"Dutch Bros aims for another San Jose coffee drive-through at former Hollywood video site"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>SAN JOSE \u2014 Dutch Bros Coffee is eyeing another empty retail site in San Jose that the trendy chain may convert into a drive-through cafe.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=7073\">Jonas Brothers bring Burning Up Tour All Over Again to Northern California<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The coffee chain has filed a proposal \u201cto construct a new Dutch Bros drive-through\u201d at 5506 Monterey Road in South San Jose, documents filed with city planners state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an excellent location for Dutch Bros,\u201d said David Taxin, a partner with Meacham Oppenheimer, a San Jose-based commercial real estate firm. \u201cThis is going to be a tremendous opportunity for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Monterey Road proposal represents a fresh attempt by Dutch Bros to open a new coffee outlet in San Jose, where the company appears to be in expansion mode.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can see Dutch Bros coming to many, many spots in Santa Clara County,\u201d Taxin said. \u201cThey will open a dozen stores in the South Bay if they can find the locations they want.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The deal is also a reminder that a growing number of empty retail spaces once operated by merchants that are defunct or downsizing are being picked up by a new generation of retailers and other types of companies.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=7071\">Photos: Dogs make a splash at Santa Cruz\u2019s annual Parks and Rex pool party fundraiser<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 5506 Monterey location was previously a Hollywood Video rental and sales store.
