Model Bakery in Walnut Creek has created a limited-edition Salami Crostata in partnership with Fra\u2019Mani, the Berkeley salumi company that is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.<\/p>\n

Chef Tim Humphrey\u2019s creation is multilayered and made to order. The pastry shell is layered first with roasted broccoli rabe, roasted garlic and stracciatella and parmesan cheese. Next come three types of salumi: Fra\u2019 Mani\u2019s Salame Rosa, Genoa Salame and Nostrano Salame, along with roasted apples and fresh mozzarella. The crostata is then topped with\u00a0radicchio, honey crisp apple and arugula salad dressed with Italian salsa verde and balsamic vinegar.<\/p>\n

The savory pastry ($14) will be available only on the next two Saturdays, Aug. 15 and 22, at the Walnut Creek bakery.<\/p>\n
