Policy meeting<\/h4>\n

Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg, whose District 4 includes Campbell, is hosting a town hall to discuss upcoming work being done around child and family policy on Aug. 26, 6:30-8 p.m., at the Santa Clara Central Park Library, 2635 Homestead Road, Santa Clara. Giant campaign<\/h4>\n

With only 3 percent of the U.S. population donating blood each year, the blood supply for lifesaving patient care is at critically low levels. While blood donations across the United States have declined this summer, donor eligibility has expanded in recent years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019ve been unable to donate in the past, you may now be able to give,\u201d said Dr. Suchi Pandey, chief medical officer of Stanford Blood Center, in a release. \u201cAnd demand for blood is constant, so we always need more people willing to become first-time donors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout August, anyone who donates at Stanford Blood Center\u2019s (SBC) mobile drives or centers\u2014including the \u00a0South Bay Donor Center in Campbell\u2014will get an official San Francisco Giants jersey with a button-down front, an embroidered official Giants logo on the chest and a Stanford Blood Center logo on the sleeve.<\/p>\n

Donors should be in good health with no cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms, and should eat well and drink fluids prior to donation. Donors should bring a photo ID and must be at least 17 years of age, or 16 with a parent or guardian\u2019s consent.<\/p>\n
