The launch coincides with Veggielution\u2019s First Saturday community event, which will feature a city-hosted gardening resource fair starting at 10 a.m. offering free California native plant seeds.<\/p>\n<p>The resource fair will also feature booths from several local organizations, including Valley Water, Our City Forest, and the UC Master Gardeners. At the event, attendees can learn more about food security, water efficiency, and sustainable gardening.<\/p>\n<p>The free materials are for San Jose residents only and are strictly for personal, non-commercial use. Attendees must bring their own containers, gloves, and shovels to the first-come, first-served hub. Only one car is allowed at the compost and mulch pile at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the morning, attendees can also enjoy a full lineup of free activities, including yoga, meditation, and Zumba classes, a cooking class, storytime, and a Vietnamese fan dance performance. Compost acts as a vitamin boost for dirt, mixed into the soil to improve plant health, while mulch is placed on top to block weeds, save water, control temperature, and prevent erosion.<\/p>\n<p>Those looking to collect compost and mulch should enter at 1044 Knox Ave., while those attending the resource fair should enter at 647 S.
