And even though this diversely appealing group formed in Los Angeles way back in 1977, and then hit quadruple-platinum heights with the descriptively titled fourth album \u201cToto IV\u201d released in 1982, Toto seems more popular today than ever.<\/p>\n<p>The group, which features Steve Lukather (guitar, vocals), Joseph Williams (vocals), Warren Ham (horns, percussion, vocals), John Pierce (bass), Keith Carlock (drums), Dennis Atlas (keyboards, vocals) and Rai Thistlethwayte (keyboards, vocals), has seen a massive revival in interest in its music in recent years. In particular, its song \u2014 \u201cAfrica\u201d (which was also famously covered by Weezer) \u2014 seems to have replaced Journey\u2019s \u201cDon\u2019t Stop Believin&#8217;\u201d as the classic rock track you just can\u2019t get away from.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=5874\">What to watch: Olivia Wilde is wonderfully inappropriate in \u2018I Want Your Sex\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cross got off to a record-setting start to the \u201980s, becoming the first artist to win all four of the general field Grammys \u2014 Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist \u2014 in 1981. That feat remained unmatched until Billie Eilish swept through those same categories in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The Romantics reached their pinnacle of commercial success with 1983\u2019s \u201cTalking in Your Sleep,\u201d which went on to become the Detroit power-pop band\u2019s only Top 10 pop single.
