PARIS (AP) \u2014 Kavinsky, the French electro-pop composer whose haunting track \u201cNightcall\u201d set the musical tone for the movie \u201cDrive\u201d starring Ryan Gosling, has died. He was 50.<\/p>\n

Culture Minister Catherine P\u00e9gard described the performer, who appeared at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics in 2024, as one of France\u2019s \u201cmost singular voices.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth danceable and nostalgic, his music will continue to resonate across generations and borders,\u201d the minister said in a post on X.<\/p>\n

French President Emmanuel Macron wrote in a post on Facebook: \u201cKavinsky, forever a source of French pride.\u201d<\/p>\n

The performer, whose real name was Vincent Belorgey, was found dead at his home on Tuesday evening, the Paris prosecutor\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n

It said an investigation has been opened into the cause of death, but that first responders didn\u2019t regard it as suspicious.<\/p>\n
