The Warriors are opting to maintain the status quo after losing the LeBron James sweepstakes.<\/p>\n

Golden State signed Draymond Green to a one-year, $27.7 million deal on Tuesday morning, a league source confirmed to the Bay Area News Group. ESPN reported the news first.<\/p>\n

Green declined his $27.7 million player option in June in order to give the Warriors more cap space to sign James, and was always expected to re-sign with the Warriors on a multi-year deal on a lower per-year value.<\/p>\n

He spent time with James this offseason and, along with Steph Curry and rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, pitched the superstar on the idea of playing in the Bay Area. Even last week, Green was seen playing golf with James, his fellow Klutch Sports Group client.<\/p>\n

Instead of joining the future Hall of Famers in San Francisco, James took his talents to the East Coast and signed with the 76ers on Friday morning. Now, Green, 36, has re-signed with the Warriors for the same amount of money he would have made prior to opting out.<\/p>\n

The Warriors have now brought back almost the entire roster, having not made a single new addition this offseason outside of June\u2019s NBA draft. The Warriors have re-signed Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis and De\u2019Anthony Melton to two-year contracts.<\/p>\n

Golden State is coming off an injury-riddled 37-45 season, and Green had arguably the worst year of his career.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His 8.4 points, 5.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game were not too far removed from his 2024-25 season, when Green placed third in Defensive Player of the Year voting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But Green\u2019s advanced statistics sharply declined, with his box plus-minus painting him as only a slightly above-average stopper while being one of the worst offensive players in the league. The Warriors were 2.7 points per 100 possessions worse with him on the floor than off it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Green\u2019s return was never in doubt, and now he is set to spend next year back in the Bay Area.<\/p>\n
