She was one of the coolest,\u201d Shinkoda wrote on Instagram Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>He led a chorus of tributes from fellow actors recalling her kindness, mentorship and generously dispensed wisdom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer family are deeply grateful for the incredible outpouring of love and support and the many beautiful messages and memories people have shared about our beloved Wai,\u201d Ho\u2019s family said in a statement cited by numerous media outlets. \u201cReading how much she meant to so many is comforting to us during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=4437\">Former Bay Area resident sentenced to life in prison for killing 13-year-old girl in 1982<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The family did not give a cause of death, but actor Perry Yung said on Instagram Sunday that she had \u201cpassed away peacefully after a stroke two days ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ho was born on Nov. 16, 1943, in what was then Japanese-occupied Hong Kong and went on to a prolific acting career in movies, television series and onstage. Before originating the role of crime boss Gao, the actress played a recurring character on \u201cOne Life to Live\u201d between 1983 and 1990. She also cropped up in several episodes of \u201cAwkwafina Is Nora from Queens\u201d and appeared in the procedural classic \u201cLaw &amp; Order\u201d and its franchise, including the \u201cSpecial Victims Unit,\u201d \u201cCriminal Intent\u201d and \u201cOrganized Crime\u201d spinoffs.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cOnly Murders in the Building,\u201d \u201cOrange Is the New Black,\u201d \u201cFresh Off the Boat,\u201d \u201cBlue Bloods\u201d and other series were also graced with Ho\u2019s presence. The actress voiced Grandma Wu in the 2022 Pixar animated film \u201cTurning Red\u201d and had a small part in Robin Williams\u2019 1990 \u201cCadillac Man,\u201d her first big-screen role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t ever forget you. I learned every minute from you when we were together on and off set,\u201d Shinkoda wrote on Instagram. \u201cI know wisdom \u2014 I\u2019d hang on your every word. We will meet again, my friend.
