Former Stanford and Los Gatos High School star Tommy Troy made quite a first impression in his MLB debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks.<\/p>\n

Troy had two doubles, including one in the second inning in his first big league at-bat, and scored two runs in the Diamondbacks\u2019 9-1 win over the Colorado Rockies at Chase Field in Phoenix on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Troy, a San Jose native, scored his first MLB run later in the second inning on Ketel Marte\u2019s ground rule double off Rockies starter Jose Quintana. After Troy doubled with two outs in the sixth off Colorado reliever Seth Halvorsen, Marte again brought him home on an RBI single to right.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust everything that I could have dreamed of, honestly,\u201d said Troy, who had his family and his girlfriend\u2019s family in attendance. \u201cAll the guys here are so supportive, loosening me up because I was a little nervous at first. But such a great moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Troy was added to the Diamondbacks\u2019 40-man roster on Saturday after left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained hamstring.<\/p>\n

Troy did not play on Saturday, but started in left field on Sunday, hit ninth in the order, and finished the game going 2-for-4.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought he seemed very comfortable,\u201d said Diamondbacks right fielder Corbin Carroll, who went 4-for-4 with two triples and two RBIs on Sunday, of Troy. \u201cI think he belonged, looked like he knew what he needed to do, took care of his business. I was impressed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Troy, 24, began playing more games in the outfield earlier this season in Triple-A Reno, where he was hitting .307 with a .397 on-base percentage in 44 games. That included three home runs, 10 doubles, and six stolen bases.<\/p>\n

Troy helped lead Stanford to Pac-12 titles in 2022 and 2023 before he was taken in the first round, 12th overall, by the Diamondbacks in the 2023 MLB draft as an infielder. He graduated from Los Gatos in 2020 after helping the school to a runner-up finish in the Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs in 2018.<\/p>\n

Troy is the fourth-ranked prospect in the Diamondbacks\u2019 system, per MLB Pipeline.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been great now defensively in left field, and he\u2019s continuing to progress,\u201d Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said of Troy before Saturday\u2019s game. \u201cHe\u2019s going to play left field and the infield in an emergency situation.<\/p>\n

But for right now, just excited for him getting here (and) being able to call himself a big leaguer.\u201d<\/p>\n
