The project would replace the existing warehouse at the site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the university to continue to be the economic generator that it is for the region and the city of San Jose, we need to have adequate housing for our staff and grad students,\u201d said Sean Collins, an associate vice president with Santa Clara University.<\/p>\n<p>Other educational organizations in the region have launched efforts to create housing for students or staffers.<\/p>\n<p>San Jose State University in 2024 moved students into a 264-unit housing tower at 184 South Market St. in downtown San Jose that could accommodate 700 beds.
