OAKLAND \u2014 A man was fatally shot Tuesday morning in the East Oakland hills, authorities said.<\/p>

His name was not immediately publicly released pending notification of his family. Authorities said he was 47 years old.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday outside near the intersection of Leona Drive and Old Quarry Loop, a residential area north of Interstate 580. The man lived in the area, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The man was walking his dog when he was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>

A motive has not yet been determined. No arrests have been announced and no suspect information has been released.<\/p>\n

The killing is the 27th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 38 homicides in the city.<\/p>\n
