{"id":3619,"date":"2026-07-03T05:06:52","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T05:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=3619"},"modified":"2026-07-03T05:06:52","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T05:06:52","slug":"pedestrian-hit-and-killed-by-driver-in-san-jose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=3619","title":{"rendered":"Pedestrian hit and killed by driver in San Jose"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>SAN JOSE \u2014 A driver hit and killed a pedestrian Wednesday evening in San Jose, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=3618\">Peninsula woman arrested on suspicion of brandishing gun<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The incident happened around 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of Monterey and Ford roads, according to San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez.<\/p>\n<p>Hernandez said an investigation revealed a man was walking eastbound across Monterey Road when he was hit by a woman driving a 2013 Kia SUV northbound on the roadway.<\/p>\n<p>The pedestrian died from his injuries at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner\u2019s Office will release the man\u2019s identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=3617\">Why homelessness hits Bay Area cities harder than suburbs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Hernandez said. She was later taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.<\/p>\n<p>The death marked San Jose\u2019s 24th traffic fatality of the year.
