A 16-year-old boy accused of being under the influence and stabbing his mother\u2019s boyfriend in a Santa Ana apartment was shot and killed by at least one Santa Ana police officer while still armed with the knife after police arrived Sunday night, June 14, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The shooting occurred about 10:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of South Main Street after officers received a call about a family disturbance inside an apartment, Santa Ana police spokeswoman Officer Natalie Garcia said.<\/p>\n

The caller, a 53-year-old man, told police that his girlfriend\u2019s son was under the influence, vandalizing the apartment and had stabbed him at least once, Garcia said.<\/p>\n

Officers arrived and heard arguing inside the apartment, Garcia said.<\/p>\n

They went inside and found the boy still armed and gave him multiple commands to put the weapon down, but he refused, leading to the shooting, police said.<\/p>\n

The boy died at the scene, Garcia said.<\/p>\n

The man was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the boy\u2019s mother also sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.<\/p>\n

A knife and other weapons were found inside the apartment, Garcia said. The other types of weapons were not immediately disclosed.<\/p>\n
