Mitch McConnell was admitted to a hospital Sunday, his spokesperson said, but there was no immediate information about why he was there or his prognosis.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcitydigest.com\/?p=2117\">12 killed when skydivers\u2019 plane crashes in Missouri, authorities say<\/a><\/p>\n<p>McConnell, 84, was the longest-serving Senate leader in history before stepping aside from that role while finishing his final term, which ends in January.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator McConnell was admitted to the hospital this morning. He is receiving excellent care,\u201d spokesperson David Popp said in a statement without elaboration. It was not immediately clear whether the Kentucky lawmaker was in Washington, his home state or elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>McConnell\u2019s health has been a subject of scrutiny for years.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2024, he fell and sprained his wrist while leaving a GOP luncheon. In March 2023, he fell in a Washington hotel and was hospitalized with a concussion; he missed several weeks of work.
