OAKLAND \u2014 Prosecutors have filed murder and gun charges against a man accused of killing an Oakley resident here last December, court records show.<\/p>\n

Maurice Davis, 27, is being held without bail on charges of murder and gun possession by a felon. He is set to enter a plea at his next court date, scheduled for July 14, records.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors alleged Davis shot and killed George Ndikum Ngwanyia Jr. around 11:50 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2025, at E.C. Reems Court in Oakland. Police haven\u2019t released the suspected motive but Ngwanyia\u2019s Instagram page \u2014 taken over by a family member after his death \u2014 suggests he was killed by \u201cpeople he called friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis was arrested in mid-March and postponed his arraignment several times since then, court records show. The charging records say he has a 2024 robbery conviction that makes it illegal for him to possess firearms.<\/p>\n
