A warrant for the arrest of 49ers player Brandon Aiyuk was issued in February, alleging that he committed a misdemanor speeding violation last year in Santa Clara County, officials said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The warrant, which was first reported by the California Post, is connected to a Dec. 20, 2025 incident in which Aiyuk allegedly committed \u201cexhibition of speed on a highway,\u201d according to the warrant shared by the Santa Clara County District Attorney\u2019s Office. It was signed by Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Brian Buckelew on Feb. 24.<\/p>\n

On that date in December, Aiyuk posted a video to his Youtube channel showing him driving his vehicle past Levi\u2019s Stadium in Santa Clara, with speeds peaking in the triple digits.<\/p>\n

The warrant also included a request for discovery. Bond was set at $5,000.<\/p>\n

Aiyuk posted videos Wednesday on Instagram showing him driving a black sedan on a race track, without specifying where he is or his reaction to news of the arrest warrant. His caption stated: \u201cMan I took off got some (expletive) in they feelings!)<\/p>\n

Aiyuk, a 2020 first-round pick and two-time 1,000-yard receiver, mysteriously veered off the NFL grid the past eight months without public comment on a career in serious limbo. Coaches and teammates have struggled to remain in contact with him, and AIyuk\u2019s rare social media posts have been both cryptic and lacking clues about his football ambitions.<\/p>\n

Two years ago, Aiyuk waged a social media standoff with the 49ers before eventually signing a top-tier extension for four years and $120 million. Seven games into the 2024 season, he sustained an Oct. 20 hit against the Kansas City Chiefs that tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee as well as his meniscus. He looked spry running on the side last summer, however, and he shadowed the 49ers\u2019 wide receivers in warmups at practice through September.<\/p>\n

As Aiyuk retreated to the shadows, coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed the 49ers voided $27 million in guarantees for 2026, but that was done prior to training camp in late July, reportedly because of Aiyuk\u2019s failure to comply with the 49ers\u2019 rehabilitation plans.<\/p>\n

The 49ers moved him to the reserve\/left squad list on their roster in December and, although he remains on their 90-man roster, neither Shanahan nor general manager John Lynch have welcomed his return after last season\u2019s vanishing act.<\/p>\n

He\u2019ll still count against the 49ers\u2019 salary cap the next two years: $12.35 million this year, $21.25 million in 2027, per Spotrac.com. The 49ers already lead the NFL with $70 million in salary cap space this year, and Aiyuk\u2019s exit frees up an additional $1.3 million, as well as $25.2 million in 2027.<\/p>\n

Aiyuk produced back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2022 and \u201923 as a major factor in the 49ers\u2019 playoff pushes.<\/p>\n
