A Burbank moviegoer was arrested for allegedly pepper-spraying a fellow patron.
Police in the Southern California city confirmed to TV station KTLA that a 34-year-old Los Angeles man was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery Tuesday. Apparently he had objected to the other patron’s use of a cellphone during the movie.

Paramedics were called because at least three people reported adverse effects.
The incident happened about 40 minutes into a late afternoon screening of “The Uprising” at the AMC Burbank 16.
A report from a witness was posted on Reddit under the subject line “This guy pepper sprayed a whole row of people because one of them was on their phone.”

The witness said the attacker then ran out of the theater, but “they didn’t even stop the movie or anything until 15 minutes after the whole thing went down.”
Police confronted the suspect in the lobby. The Reddit post included photos of officers handcuffing a man wearing a T-shirt from the 2016 slasher film “Terrifier.”
